What is the XAT Exam?
Business schools and educational institutions include entrance exams as a part of their admission process for several educational programs like MBA, Engineering, Medical, etc. There are several types of entrance exams utilized by different Institutions based on educational preferences and policies of institutions. XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test) is an entrance exam at the national level conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur on behalf of the Xavier Association of Management Institutes (XAMI). XAT is one of the most prestigious entrance exams for management programs in India. XAT is pursued by candidates for management education in great participating institutes including XLRI. XAT entrance exam assesses candidates based on their verbal ability, quantitative ability, decision-making capability, general awareness and logical reasoning.

XAT 2025 is confirmed to be held on January 5, 2025, for which the registration schedule will be released by XLRI in July 2025. The registration window for the XAT exam will be open for 3 months and the candidates can register for the exam from the official website xatonline.in. Evolution of XAT Exam
XAT exam comprises five sections including Verbal and Logical Ability, Decision Making, Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation, General Knowledge and essay writing (subject to Institute policies). XAT exam comprises 100 to 120 questions that need to be completed in 210 minutes in online mode.

Some exam centres allow and accept digital copies of admit cards for the exam. However, it is important to properly analyse and follow the specific instructions disclosed by official authorities of the XAT exam. If digital copies of the admit card are acceptable in the exam centre it should be clear and legible, available in the required format, and based on specific instructions.

How is XAT score calculated?
XAT exam comprises 100 questions of 1 mark each. 0.25 marks were deducted for every incorrect answer considering the negative marking system of the exam. Along with the negative marking system, 0.10 marks are also deducted if the unattempted questions exceed 8. XAT is a considerably more difficult entrance exam than others based on its marking criteria and score calculation approach.
